Swiss voters had the final say on two issues at the ballot box on March 4: A people's initiative aimed at scrapping the licence fee for the public Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), which also includes swissinfo.ch, as well as a constitutional amendment seeking to extend the right of the national government to impose federal taxes until 2035. It was the first set of nationwide votes this year.

About 5.3 million Swiss citizens, including registered members of the Swiss Abroad community, are eligible to take part in the March 4, 2018 ballot.

Votes on a broad range of issues, as well as elections, will also take place in many cantons and municipalities across the country.

It is the first of up to four nationwide ballots this year.
