Seventeen young Swiss hackers took part in the recent Swiss Cyber Security Challenge. At stake – a place on the Swiss team competing in the European cyber hacking challenge.

The competition was set up by private individuals who felt there was a general lack of IT security in Switzerland. The event was backed by the state, NGOs and private companies.

The goal was to find young talent that wants to become involved in security and support the Swiss economy by protecting Switzerland from cyberattacks. The participants had to bring a lot of security knowledge, but also had to be creative and able to think out of the box.

The tasks included cryptography and web security problems as well as working on mobile security for iOS and Android. The ten best cyber experts are representing Switzerland at the European Cyber Security Challenge in Lucerne on October 21.
